Printer working on Wifi not on network

Yankee delta
Go to solution Solved by Kilrah,

Well there's more setup to do with a router...

It should be put in access point mode if it supports that. If it doesn't then disable the DHCP server on it and plug all your devices (including the modem) to the LAN ports, leave WAN empty.

Hello,

so the issue is my printer does print thru WiFi but not thru ma solid connection. im first gonna try to sketch the situation.

Moden -> Powered Splitter -> Router             ->                                       Printer (connected thru WiFi)

-> Main pc (connected thru solid connection)

So, if i try to print whit my laptop that is connected thru WiFi on the router i can print. But my main pc cant seem to find him.

Treys solutions:

- via windows main search

- via ip address ( after installation you can say what printer and what not, it does say its there but wont respond, so my guess its a ghost)

- when i got it there thru method 2 i put it on all network can use (but still nothing)

Printer is an mg 5200 series (European don't know if it matters but in cars it does don't know in tech)

pleas help at the moment i print thru my crappy laptop and have the inconvenience of putting all my work on a stick than in the laptop then print. I know its not worst that can happen but i like it to work.

Your main PC must be connected AFTER the router, not before. Modem should go straight to router, then all your devices on the router.

Hye, I did that first everything worked well. But i changed it because my router could only pump 50 mbps out and my splitter can do 1 gbs. but there is than no way of overcomming the problem only changing it back or living whit it?

You can plug your switch into the router, then clients into the switch. Clients connected to the switch will be able to talk to each other at 1Gbps. But you'll still be limited to 50Mbps to the internet if the router can't do more, but that would be very surprising unless it was faulty.

If that's the case then you either have to live with it or replace the router.

Because i want to still have the 1gbs internet connection, but that's then just choosing between speed or convenience?

Yep if your router is that bad. What is it? Other option to have both is to replace it.

Maybe checking if it has a firmware update, applying that if there's one and resetting/reconfiguring it could help. A 3-year old router should do better than 50Mbps unless it's broken.

The router creates an isolated network, something outside it cannot reach something inside.

And there is no way of saying to the router no use the other network? so that it is just 1 network thru the house?

Depending on the model yes, but that will typically result in only one or 2 of your devices getting an internet connection since ISPs usually do not allow more than that many clients connected directly.

Can't really give more advice without knowing exact models of your current router and also your modem. If the modem is actually a router then you have more options, but we can't know.

I did some digging the c60 has a max  of 100 mbs so that sucks. Its running the newest software. and being on the router it reveals allot of options  in networks.

-internet

-Lan

-iptv

-dhpc server

-dynamic dns

-advanced routing

its has also other main tabs like

-vpn server

-ipv6

-system tools

- qos

-Wireless

-Guest network

- and other but not important to this topic

This looks like it is a modem/router already. You shouldn't need another router.

I doubt you have 1Gbps internet.  Your link speed from the PC to the modem may be 1gbps but from the modem to the outside is a different story.,

And if you do have the money to pay for gigabit internet every month then you certainly have the money to get a better router.
