New ram Causes boot failure

Hello, 

 

I wanted to upgrade my pc with some bonus ram for some cad designing.

Trying to be smart and hoping on an easy install I looked up what i already have and bought the same product. (Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LED 2x8GB 3000 Red)

after installing the 2 new sticks the pc won't boot, it starts running and after a little bit it starts to make the error pings.

 

i have taken out the new sticks and there is no problem with out them.

looking at them i see 1 difference between the new and old ones, the old ones are "ver5.30" and the new ones are "ver5.32".

Can this be the problem? do's any one know what that "ver number" difference means?

Hello and welcome.

 

Sounds like you still have XMP enabled from your previous RAM install.  Take out the new sticks and boot up into BIOS and turn off XMP.  Then re-install the new sticks and try to boot up.

Well i had some time and looked up if i had XMP enabled, but unfortunately I haven't.

In the meanwhile have I also tried the memory in an anther pc here at home, which gave 1 working and the other one not working so i guess it will be a faulty memory chip then.

will be sending them back to the store and wishing better luck with the other new ones.
