GPU intense temperature spiking

I was just playing PUBG with my friends casually and my game just went black screen, I could still hear my friends in Discord for a short period of time until the PC almost went sleep mode.

 

I checked my GPU temps and GPU Temp 2 showed 94 degrees, but GPU Temp 1 only had like 60 degrees

I could see that when I clicked on Chrome after I alt-tabbed, the temperature skyrocketed again to 96 degrees and it kept going after I shut down Chrome.

 

This behaviour also continued AFTER I had alt-tabbed from the game, also this happens in R6S main loading screen.

That's Tcase and Tdie, think of it as "average temperature" and "hotspot temperature" (i.e. the average number from all thermistors in the GPU and the one reading the highest number).

 

The reference card hits around 85C and 110C I think, so what you get is not abnormal

Should it be spiking like that tho? Or was it just the drivers causing the black screen? I know PUBG isnt known for their stability but the fans go nuts when GPU Temp 2 hits 90 degrees and suddenly drop to 50 then back up.

Black screen is likely caused by drivers

 

as for temperature spike, seems normal.
