What is really needed?

Hello fellow enthusiasts

I have been rather slow the last few years since RTX released, and know next to nothing about their performance

I've been meaning to either upgrade my GPU, or buy a VR headset (that Index is looking sexy). But after looking at prices, i can see a 2070 Super is relatively priced for my country (DK, about 5000 DKK for one)

At the moment i have a GTX 1070 blower style which i pulled out from my old pre-built, meaning that this is an OEM card, and not something any ordinary person can buy. I have noticed the performance is slower than a normal 1070, and the temperatures reach 80+ Celcius when at load.

This is unbearably hot, and do not look forward to the day it will kick the bucket, which is why i want to retire it before it does.

I like going above than what i really need, but this time i am unsure whether how much i actually am getting. I've heard that the RTX 2060 is comparable to the 1070, but again, i've got no clue.

So i guess what im really trying to ask is, would an RTX 2070 Super be too much, or is the 2070 or 2060 Super much better?

well there are two types of VR. self powered and computer powered. the difference is in the name. lets take the oculus systems for example as most know them. the oculus quest is an all in one VR system in which you don't need a computer. the oculus rift s is a PC powered one where you will need your computer to operate the VR headset and everything. the valve index you are looking at is going to be a PC powered VR set so you will need a PC that can handle. as for that. take a look at the two links I posted below.
