So I got a Titanfall PC beta code from @Boutchoo (btw ty again :D) and so I downloaded 12GB in 1 hour. Wat. My internet download speed is 12mbit/s or about 1.5MB/s. Going from downloading 12GB in an hour, that means that my download speed would theoretically need to be about 3MB/s or 27mbit/s.

Anyone got a sense that Origin compresses the game data and sends it over? If so, +1 to Origin for doing so :D

yes but this has allready been posted

Yeah I remember it being posted. But I got the feeling that people thought the download speed numbers were false.

Steam does this too, cos y'know, bandwidth costs them money too lol

Oh really? Is there an option to enable it? Because I always get 1.1MB/s -  1.5 MB/s download speeds on steam :(

On Steam they do it in a more sensible way imo; the speed you see is your speed but the file size is reduced, and then expanded during the "first time setup" installation process. That's why there's usually a discrepancy between the file size you download and the size it takes up on the drive :)

With my 50mb/s (6.5MB/s) I downloaded the Beta in around 15 minutes.

I was going at about 10MB/s instead of 6-7MB/s.

When in Steam, I go around 4-6MB/s even on a Low Pop. Server...

The file size is probably lower on Steam, since in my experience they typically compress the file, send it, and then extract it during the "first time setup" procedure.

As you say, your internet speed is 50mbps so your ISP isn't going to let you have 80mbps. What's happening is that Origin is sending you a compressed file and then expanding it, so your hard drive usage is 10MB/s but you're still only getting 6.5MB/s over your internet connection.
