1. Valve Index

2. Vive Pro

3. either Rift S or Samsung Odyssey+ or just old Vive, hard choice for me because I find inside-out tracking to be inferior to lighthouses and I love the original Vive headstrap and that you can upgrade it (Index and Vive Pro both support Vive completely and it's not that uncommon for people to buy just Index controllers for their old Vive).

On PC side depending on if you want to get Vive Wireless adapter go for Intel CPU (AMDs have had huge problems with the adapter for some reason which isn't really a surprise since it's Intels technology and I'm not sure have they fixed it yet, at some point they were giving refunds for the adapter to those who had AMD CPUs because there was no fix in sight). GPU side currently GTX 1070 is probably the bare minimum to run everything but if money isn't the problem anything from RTX 2070 or RX 5700 XT upwards (if money isn't the problem, I don't see reasons why buy something lower if there isn't any specific reasons).

HP are working with Microsoft and Valve on a new Reverb Gen 2 HMD that was just announced a couple days ago with a page on steam.

Hopefully it supports both camera and lighthouse tracking and has a physical IPD adjustment.

Info is still a little scarce beyond them saying it has no compromises (i doubt that)

The 2160x2160 resolution on the OG reverb really is a big jump over anything currently out in terms of visual clarity and screen door effect. You can actually read the tiny gauges in planes in DCS World without zoom finally.

If they can match that screen clarity with the Vale lighthouse tracking and controllers. it very well might be the best overall headset to get.

Something to keep your eye on anyway
