GPU Clock Won't Go Up After Changing The Offest

I wanna overclock my gt740m in my old laptop I don't really care about and I have overclocked the memory clock for the card successfully.

 

But the gpu clock won't increase even though I cranked up the offset. So I feel like I'm leaving performance on the table here.

I've tried nvidia inspector and precision X so far and I get the same result. The operating system I have is windows 10.

 

I'd like to know if there is any fix for this, thanks!

If temp is too high or power limit is reached whatever you set will just be dialed back instantly.

Well, for sure that's not the temps, because even when I launch a game fresh, while the gpu temp is just 48 degrees. I'm not getting any increase in performance or gpu clock speeds when changing the offset.

 

I just noticed that I have the same with my GTX 980Ti too on my PC and that surely doesn't suffer from any sort of thermal throttling, so it's not just a problem for my laptop anymore. Which makes me think, is this a common issue or what? I barely find anybody talking about it anywhere.

 

I might try to mess with the power limit I guess.

Try MSI Afterburner.

Then the VBIOS probably doesn't allow anything above what you already get.
