Whatcha think? Overkill?

Go to solution Solved by TheBean,

if you want to develop stuff, get ryzen. it saves you money and gets you better performance.

build it yourself and you save another 300 bucks at least.

and you can always change this

you have way to much ram, no need for a  9900k and you are going to overpay buying from them, just build it your self.

Good luck, Have fun, Build PC, and have a Wii and PS2 as your only consoles.

I run a Ryzen 3600, 5700XT, and 32GB of ram. For unreal engine, my pc handles it fine and I have messed around with some rather large projects. Works well with blender as well. Can't speak for vr however. 9900k may help with frame times in vr but otherwise its overkill and 64GB will just be a waste imo.

For the money I would switch to a 3900X and 32GB of ram.

True...I'm just stacking up enough of a cushion for when I quit, honestly. Which is why I want to be sure that this rig will be good enough for a while. I want to jump on this dream full time, man.
