LGA1155 is pretty old, even the best CPU you can get for that socket (i7 3700) isn't very good by modern standards.

Try to find a 3rd or maybe even 2nd gen i7 if you can. (That's an *intel* i7 3700 or 2600 or 2700, Ryzen processors have similar names so don't get confused)

Those should still hold up reasonably well in modern games, although they're definitely showing their age by now, since they're almost a decade old.

xeons for that socket that are equal to a 2700/3700 are good.

1260L v1/v2

1265 v1/v2

1280 v1/v2

 

the higher up you go the better the clocks.

Those should still hold up reasonably well in modern games, although they're definitely showing their age by now, since they're almost a decade old.

Okay yah i have a Xeon e5 2620 laying around but dont have a motherboard to go along w/. is that still a good Xeon?

for gaming it maybe kinda slow. you'd have to get a cheap chinese board.

you do have 6 cores 12 threads which is nice but they are slow.
