Overclocking a gtx 1080 with 3rd party cooler

Hey everyone,

so I installed an Arctic Accelero IV cooler on my GTX 1080 Founders edition. The temps under load will get the card to at most 45-50C. Now I’m trying to overclock it. I have msi afterburn and I used the OC scanner option that it offers. It added an additional +195 to the core, but nothing to the memory. I’ve been watching a fair amount of videos and I see people adding to the memory as well but the tool here just keeps it at +0. Is that fine? Also if you guys have any experience, what numbers did you guys get your gtx 1080 up to? I don’t know what is too much or too little. Many of the vids I watch only have the cards without sufficient coolers on them.

Highest I got on my actual fe card on water. Didn't mess with the memory too much as I rarely do.spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png

OC Scanner only does the core clock. Memory still has to be done manually if desired.

On my MSI 1080 OC scanner only gave me something like +11 core clock (mind you that's on top of what MSI did from the factory). I didn't mess with the memory. I also don't really care to mess much with manual overclock, but if I recall I could only get around +100 or +125 before it would start crashing more often than not. Memory was maybe +100 as well before it would start crashing. Don't think my card won the silicon lottery, but I'm fine with that.

This was on a gtx 1080 or 1080 Ti? Also should I add on to the memory?

1080, as I mentioned. You can add to memory if you feel like it. Won’t really matter overall. 2 frames isnt worth the effort.
