Hi all,

I am thinking of purchasing and building a pc in the coming months. I would like to play games at 1440p at as close to 120fps as possible. My ideal price range for parts is £1000 to £1200. Along with this I need my system to be in a mini ITX form factor.

Here are my parts:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07SXMZLPK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_6?smid=AFXON1SGSPLH4&psc=1

GPU: Zotac GAMING GeForce RTX 2060 Super mini https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TXG9YDG/ref=ox_sc_act_image_4?smid=A2LNOP4UQZJ1&psc=1

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3600MHZ CAS 18 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07RM39V5F/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

SSD (for OS): WD Green 240GB M.2 SATA https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078WYS5K6/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

HDD: Seagate firecuda 2TB sshd (2.5 inch) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07H2F3741/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

PSU: Corsair SF600W SFX fully modular 80+ gold https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01CR1XGTG/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

CPU cooler: Noctua NH-L12S low profile cooler https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075SF5QQ8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?smid=A38F5RZ72I2JQ&psc=1

Case: Fractal Era ITX

I would say 1440p 120fps on a 2060S is rather optimistic, unless you chop down settings a lot to the point where 1440p looks like 1080p.

the SSHD is completely pointless when you can fit a proper SSD into the system since it's just an 8GB SSD as cache for a 2TB HDD, when it's not even your boot drive it has no performance advantage over a standard HDD.

WD Green SSD, really slow by SATA SSD standards but I dont think you can do better cutting away something, say the SSHD altogether and maybe get a single 1TB unit.

If I were you I'd just get an R5 3600, because the graphics card and storage is worth spending more while Ryzen 7 wont beat the Ryzen 5 in most games, especially not when the GPU is hanging on like that.

You would need to confirm if the bios is up to date with a B450 board, as no bios flashback on them. An X570 board is a bit more expensive but it will work out of the box. The MSI B450I above is a good board if you can confirm it is Ryzen 3000 ready.

ok, so first of all, thank you everyone for your replies.

In terms of improvements, I have removed the ssd and sshd and instead opted for a 1tb nvme ssd and I will maybe install more storage down the line. I have also gone down to a r5 3600 as suggested. This freed up a slightly higher budget for gpu and I have gone for a 2070.

here is the list:

I was also wondering about a quality 1440p 120hz 1ms monitor with a reasonable low profile stand for around £300

thanks.

Note: this monitor is curved

Changed single be quiet fan to 2 arctic ones, the case holds two fans on the top

changed SSD since there's leftover budget. Otherwise I prefer the WD Blue 1TB M.2 SATA SSD since QLC SSDs like the P1 are known for big slow downs during extended writes
