Mixing Ram Modules

On the latest episode of ShortCircuit "The Laptop you'll actually buy - Dell Inspiron 15 7000" Alex mentioned that mixing memory can be somewhat troublesome.

I have experienced this also, but that's with old hardware and i don't have access to test this with newer memory modules.

 

Is this an issue with new ram modules/new chipsets also or just an habit of us not doing it because it didn't really work well with old hardware?

Has there been extensive testing with new hardware? Both mixing brands and mixing speeds. I would love to see you guys make a video about this.

 

Test with both AMD and INTEL boards.
