Been using a 4gb RX570 for a while now, and have had some trouble running games and rendering video projects at the speeds/settings I'm looking for. I took some recommendations from a few friends and got mixed results. One friend is selling his old EVGA GTX 1070 SC for $160 and others have told me I should buy it from him. Other AMD-based friends have said it would be better to just save up and buy a 5700XT. What I'm wondering is whether the performance gain that the 5700XT has over the 1070SC worth the $240 price difference? Are there other great price-to-performance cards I should be looking at? Any help is appreciated.

They aren't even comparable really, 5700XT's competitors are the 2060S and 2070, 5700XT being faster but the RTX cards have better software support and option to use RTX effects. Also, a founders card that doesn't suck, or blow

1070 is like the budget choice, when you can't or dont want to spend so much. It's still good for 1080p and respectable for 1440p (just not demanding games), but there are reasons to get something faster.

when trying to figure out which GPU to get, there are a wide variety of factors you have to consider. budget, PSU, case and what are you planning on doing with it are among the top questions that need to be answered.

right now I would avoid AMD stuff as they have been having issues with their drivers over the last month or so. some people claim they have fixed it but then soon after you see someone else coming in with the problem.

budget: what can you or are willing to spend for a GPU?

PSU: does it meet the required wattage the GPU is recommending or needing?

case (big one): will the GPU physically fit inside of the case?

what are you going to do?: gaming, making movies, watching movies, etc. etc.?

there are two things I think you should see. they are linked below.
