Windows 10 - 100% Disk Usage

I have a older computer (about 6-8 years) that whatever I do ends up with 100% disk usage. I have tried all of the fixes like disabling Superfetch, disabling skype, cortana, ect. My initial reaction is to buy a SSD for it and move the OS on to that (Specs below). I did some looking around and this seems like the best option. Recommendations? 

 

Specs:

Intel i5-4330

3.0 ghz processor

8gb ram

1Tb hdd

750ti graphics card

Windows 10? there was a problem with windows 7 where there was a log it used to write and once that log got over a certain size it would start writing the log again and again. I cant remember the details but i used to run into storage problems with it all the time. Here's the article that informed me on the problem. Don't know if it has anything to do with your problem, but maybe this helps.

Yea get a ssd. I will be much faster. Windows 10 is slow on a hdd no matter what you do.

 

What is using the disk? Look under files being used in resouce monitor.

Oh wait, Cortana. That's windows 10 then obviously. Ignore my previous post.

 

It would be a good idea to find out whats taking up all your space, otherwise getting a new drive of any description will not help in the long term.

dude yes it will it means he is using all his disks write / read speed if you get a 128gb kingston ssd for $30 it will fully fix your issue

Haha i read his topic wrong. I read it as his space was jumping from 10% to 100%, not his disc speed at 100% on windows 10. I honestly thought this was a free space problem.
