The link to the build list is here:

This is my first build ever, and I'm trying to keep the cost down. Mind you one key thing is that the GPU + CPU were already given to me by a buddy who upgraded their system, so the rest of the build was centered around them. If there are any blaring issues or places where I should swap out a part, I'm completely open to suggestions (it's kind of why I'm posting here lol). Thanks for the tips!.

Here's a revised list

You can get faster ram for cheaper, and also that PSU is not so great (it has a low operating temperature so it struggles to output its max wattage)

Is the case a must or would you consider alternatives?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

The case absolutely is not a must, I just kinda liked the look of it. Also didn't realize there were better options for the RAM and monitor, thanks for that.

As for the PSU, is the low operating temp a problem because it heats up, or it just likes being in a colder ambient environment in general?

You could consider this

Similar look, the side panel isn't glass but the front breathes a lot better

Both in a sense. The PSU heats up when it's operating, and once it gets above 30 Celsius, the max output is not gonna be attainable. If you were in a lower ambient temp, it would help, but common ambient temps are usually above 20 Celsius so you're already so close to the operating temp. To be honest, it wouldn't cause a problem with the specific setup you mentioned, but if you planned on upgrading it would hold you back.

I would get a different motherboard, as the Gigabyte B450 ones are not that great. The MSI B450-A PRO MAX or Tomahawk MAX etc. If you need wifi then just get a separate adapter.

What are some problems with the Gigabyte B450 motherboards? I kind of like the IO on the one I have on my list already, more than this one and the other A PRO MAX boards.

The MSI boards have a stronger VRM so if you wanted to put a better (Higher core) cpu in there in the future then it will handle it a lot better.

The Tomahawk MAX has a similar rear I/O feature set to the Gigabyte board, although it doesn't have the built in I/O shield. There is also the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC if you want built in wifi but it is a bit more expensive.

So I guess spending an extra $20 would be future proofing, right? I guess its worth it if it's a $20 upgrade.

If you can stretch the extra $20 then I would go with the Gaming Pro Carbon. Means you can put a 12 core or even 16 core on it in the future when prices have dropped.

Yeah I'm buying my parts right now and decided to go with the carbon, thanks for the suggestion!
