Hello for a while now I have had 100% cpu usage while playing fortnite. I don't know how to fix it or if the cpu is just too weak.

Specs:

Ram - 16 GB 3700MHz

CPU - i5 7600 Kaby Lake

GPU - GTX 1060 6GB

If there is anything that you need to ask, then ask away.

Sounds about normal. Your cpu is being used to it's full potential here by fortnite which is a game that can easily use a quad core fully.

Damn that sucks because I am unable to get stable 144 fps in solos. I've done some research and I've found that Ryzen 5 2600 and 3600 are pretty good cpus for their price. Which would go better/ bottleneck less with gtx 1060 6gb on fortnite?

144 fps is possible on a 7600 but only sometimes in less intensive area's. For pure gaming a 3600 will be better but it does depend on the price difference. There is also the ryzen 1600af or 1600 refresh that is basically a 2600 for a lower price. Do know that you will need a new motherboard but your ram is already really fast so that is a big bonus for ryzen.

Yeah I've already looked into getting a new motherboard, its turns out to be cheaper than upgrading to a better intel cpu even when I get a motherboard. I was planning to get this motherboard but I'm not sure if it would be the best. https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Performance-Gaming-Crossfire-Motherboard/dp/B07XHH4YG4/ref=pd_bxgy_3/139-7246520-4752450?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07XHH4YG4&pd_rd_r=f1436f2a-5029-4e12-bf2b-6dc88ed3e37c&pd_rd_w=dBUwL&pd_rd_wg=fRQ38&pf_rd_p=fd08095f-55ff-4a15-9b49-4a1a719225a9&pf_rd_r=YTMJB0GTH0T5NVGEV3GH&refRID=YTMJB0GTH0T5NVGEV3GH&th=1

That board is fine if you want it.

This one is cheaper and does the same thing and is a bit smaller too. Feel free to choose whichever of the 2 tho

Alright I think I will get the cheaper variant. Which CPU would you recommend for me to get for a consisten stable 144fps on fortnite? I feel like going for the 2600 would be a good option right now for its current price on amazon which seems pretty amazing. Also is this the 1600af you were talking?

It's not the 1600 I meant that the regular old one. The 2600 is priced really nicely. The cpu will be able to do 144fps now it's gonna be a case of your gpu keeping up but a 1060 is enough to achieve that on medium normally.

Alright thanks so much for all this help. Especially with the motherboard and the i5 7600 not being messed up or something. I think I'll end up getting the 2600. Thank you so much and have great night/day!

Hello guys!

Same problem here with i5 7600, playing PUBG my CPU USAGE IS ALWAYS 100% so when I am playing also with Discord app open, my microphone lag, my fps goes down and I am getting crazy! My settings are all in low.

Today I changed my ram settings to run on 2933 from 2666 via bios settings. Can you give me any suggestions if I can fix it? Or its time for an upgrade? If I go one year back playing PUBG, i played really better with the same settings!

I share a photo from my task manager: https://prnt.sc/ri01pf

My build is:

Board: MSI Z270 Tomahawk 2017
VGA: MSI GTX 1060 6GB Gaming X
PSU: Corsair VS650W 80plus
CPU: Intel i5 7600 3.5Ghz 2017 7th Generation
RAM: 2x8GB G.skill DDR4 3000mhz
SSD: SSD Samsung EVO 850 256gb
OS: Windows 10 64bit Pro

Sorry on the late reply but it does seem that the i5 7600 is quite weak compared to other cpus especially against AMD as they seem to be taking over in the value part of it. I also think that yeah it is time to get an upgrade for your CPU the 1600 refresh (12nm), 2600 or 3600 are all good candidates for a good value cpu. I'd recommend having a look at benchmark videos with the parts that you will have/ planning to upgrade to and the video including the game(s) that you play/ plan to play.
