I'm looking to upgrade an old friend's computer to give it to my roommate's little brother, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to check compatibility for the processors.

List below:

Quote

Motherboard: Dg33m05

CPU: Core 2 duo E7500 (Intel 775/t socket)

GPU: Radeon HD 2400

Memory: 6GB; 2x2GB + 2x1GB DDR2

Storage: A bargain bin 500GB HDD I'm not relying on

Power Supply: Unsure of wattage, non-modular from dell

I'm hoping to keep the upgrade budget below USD$175. The performance goals aren't very high, just to push a playable 1080p experience.

I'll update this list as I confirm compatibility, and add photos when I get home tonight.

All advice appreciated!

Id be tempted to try to find a 2nd to 4th gen used desktop and start fresh. That cpu is gonna be too slow to play almost every modern game. That budget should be enough to get a used desktop and a cheap gpu for it.
