To be clear, that's 8-pin EPS + another 4-pin EPS connector, not 12-pin.

Does your current PSU not have two EPS cables?

I know I have an 3950x do i need to go get a new powersupply with a 12 pin cpu power even if I don't plan to overclock?

the extra 4-pin is not needed unless you plan on doing LN2 overclocking.  there is no reason to swap PSU for the lack of a EPS connector

what PSU do you have?

The motherboard has a 12 pin power connector

that is the cpu power. Your mtoherboard has 24pin connector. For that cpu atleast 8pin is needen and all the 12pins is suggested to have on for overlokcing or heavy usage.

That motherboard is not the best motherboard for your cpu. So you bought like 500+ dollar cpu and 200 dollar mobo?

You need a psu with 12 pin eps (cpu power or atleast 8pin or 2x4pin) and 24pin mobo power connector. Usually all 850w psu have them, some 750w might have them

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

no they arent.

you dont even get close to the rated throughput of a single 8-pin. which can deal with 384w. which is barely achievable during LN2 overclocking.

actually his board is more than fine for the 3950x.

its a slightly downgraded VRM from the 350$ strix board. and the VRM is really good for its price.
