I'm new to the computer community. I have an old gaming computer that I purchased around 2013 that I was working on updating. I have already replaced the GPU with the NVIDIA GTX 1660 and the PSU with a corsair 550w and gaming is fine with this, not amazing but definitely better. I was looking into purchasing the AMD Ryzen 5 2600 to replace my AMD FX-4350 (one motivation for this is the insanely loud CPU cooler along with awful fps). Because of this upgrade I was also going to upgrade my motherboard to the AMD B450 but I can't find anything about if it is compatible with windows 8.1 which is what I have. I'm on a tight budget and didn't expect to also have to buy a new motherboard, I really don't want to buy windows 10 along with this.

Summary: Is AMD B450 motherboard compatible with windows 8.1????

Your Windows 8.1 key works to update to Windows 10. The free upgrade period technically ended, but old keys still work to install Windows 10, just make a Windows 10 install USB and use your old key.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
