Upgrading ram for office desktop

I have hp slim desktop 290-p0xxx and I'd like to add extra 4gb ram. Will this ram compatible for the rig?

Since your first stick is already a ddr4, any ddr4 is ok. But having faster speed for the current ram is redundant as that will literally be made to be the same speed with the existing ram. Also you missed the shopee 3.3 kababayan.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

CURRENT PC SPECS

CPU             Ryzen 5 3600 (Formerly Ryzen 3 1200)

GPU             : ASUS RX 580 Dual OC (Formerly ASUS GTX 1060 but it got corroded for some odd reasons)

GPU COOOER      : ID Cooling Frostflow 120 VGA (Stock cooler overheats even when undervolted :()

MOBO            : MSI B350m Bazooka

MEMORY          Team Group Elite TUF DDR4 3600 Mhz CL 16
STORAGE         : Seagate Baracudda 1TB and Kingston SSD
PSU             : Thermaltake Lite power 550W (Gonna change soon as i dont trust this)
CASE            : Rakk Anyag Frost
CPU COOLER      : ID-Cooling SE 207
CASE FANS       : Mix of ID cooling fans, Corsair fans and Rakk Ounos (planned change to ID Cooling)
DISPLAY         : SpectrePro XTNS24 144hz Curved VA panel
MOUSE           : Logitech G603 Lightspeed
KEYBOARD        : Rakk Lam Ang

HEADSET         : Plantronics RIG 500HD

Kingston Hyper X Stinger

and a whole lot of LED everywhere(behind the monitor, behind the desk, behind the shelf of the PC mount and inside the case)

Your new ram is much faster than your current ram

No it's not, DDR is advertised at double it's frequency, the current stick is '2666' too.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Full nerd explanation. DDR stands for "double data rate" which means it can fetch data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal it receives. So it's clock frequency is 1333 MHz like cpuz shows (or near enough) but it retrieves data at 2666 MHz.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

oh wait, do you have any cooler restrictions? if not, just get any DDR4 2660 Mhz that has an equal or better timing at a lower price than what you have right now because as i see it, that ram you have right now has horrible timing for a 2660 Mhz. Either you repalce it and get a dual channel ram or just add another same performance ram.

do you have recommendation for either replace and add another.

oh btw is my current ram 1333mhz?

edit: nvm it's 2666

It may not be the ram having this horrible timings, it may as well be the HP-bios using very moderate timings.

@gta6287

The Samsung ram you chose should work, 2x4gb would give you dual-channel as well.

Can we please see the timings the existing ram would allow? You can see them under the SPD-tab of cpu-z.
