i5 9600K vs R5 3600

Right now I have Intel i5 9600K and I have overclocked it to 4,9Ghz. However I get 100% CPU usage and stuttering in AC Odyssey, BFV MP and COD MW and I'm also worried about future games. New consoles have 8C16T CPUs which will probably make PC games more demanding at some point too. I'm playing on a 1080p 144Hz monitor and my overclocked RX 5700 can push pretty high framerates.

I got brand new Ryzen R5 3600 and ASRock B450M Pro4 with 30 days return policy for very cheap and I could sell my old parts and switch to AMD and it would only cost me like 10-20€. So should I switch to Ryzen?

More and more games should be able to take advantage of Ryzen's 12 threads. I believe R5 3600 will last much longer and AMD also doesn't require new motherboard for CPU upgrading.

maybe wait for the ryzen 4000 series later this year, for it to be a proper upgrade, rather than a side-grade

I was actually going to wait but everything was -25% at my local store so I couldn't resist. I could sell my i5 9600K for the same price as I bought the R5 3600. Stuttering in AC Odyssey and BFV is so annoying and my i5 is clearly holding back the GPU.

maybe it's worth going to the 3700x then? to make it even more future proof?

R7 3700X is 350€ and my R5 3600 was 160€ so it's over twice as expensive ?
