Search system for NAS

I have a linux NAS server that runs Debian and I'm looking for a way that I can easily search the contents.

My primary use case is that my wife is wanting to go through all of the photos that are on the NAS. We have backups from over a decade of systems which have come and gone. We have 10Ks of photos and 1Ks of videos.

Anyway, I guess what I'm looking for would be something like QNAS's Qsirch: https://www.qnap.com/solution/qsirch-4-0/en/, but obviously something that could be installed via Docker or whatever. No fancy integrations needed. As long as it offered an API or a web UI, that would be perfect.

Of course, this also makes me wonder: am I missing something here? Is there a better way?

I know that Spotlight can be used to index content on remote shares, but this isn't really what I want as I want others to be able to access it.

Maybe someone else has already accomplished this or found a solution?

Thanks.
