you can verify that using the msi afterburner osd, enable cpu and gpu usage... if anyone goes to 100% and the other is below, the 100% one is bottlenecking.....

for ejample i have a i5 3570k@4.2  and a gtx1060 6gb.... the cpu is mi bottleneck, in some games the cpu goes 100% while the gpu stay at 80%

not much, just you will have your fps bouncing from 100 fps to 10 fps in harsh moments, if dont care you can limit the fps with afterburner to 30 fps, because feeling the downspeed from 100 fps to 10 fps it feels like falling from upstairs.

To much draw calls from graphics card to cpu, cpu has to manage physics, operative system, i/o devices, adjust performance duw thermal throttle, cortana ,geolocalizations, bloatware from win 10, and.......the game itself.

If you have botlenech cpu fine tunning and tweaks are a must have to get a better visual experience. disabling and optimazing o.s. and even going back to win 7 x64 to free your cpu from bloatware of win 10, win 10 use 40 % more cpu than win 7.

take a look to youtuber "LOW SPEC GAMER" and tweak your fortnite, is a very friendly guide.

You guys do realize that 8350K is better than 1600af or 2600 in most gaming including fortnite right?

You need 3600 for an upgrade, otherwise it will be a downgrade or a sidegrade at best.

Since you already have a coffee lake motherboard, why don't you go for i5-9600k?

That's a bit cheaer than grtting 3600 with a new mobo. (and little better for gaming)

i9-10940X @5.40GHz (currently the top OC record):  https://valid.x86.fr/5jiapc

i9-10940X Regular 24/7 @5.1GHz all core: http://valid.x86.fr/bj13uz
