Combine different RAM

I have just bought a pc with 16gb 3200 Ram,  can i add memory that is different size. At the moment it is two 8gb sticks

Yeah you can toss in 2x4gb if you want. Just bear in mind that most motherboards will have some trouble maintaining high ram speeds with more dimms

I was thinking of adding a 16gb stick, would it be better if it was two additional 8gb sticks

Two 8gb should be faster than one 16gb stick. Motherboards prefer to run in dual channel, and you can't do that with an odd amount of RAM (1 or 3 sticks).

Historically, doing this has never been recommended due to compatibility issues. You may want to run memtest overnight and see how well these sticks run together. The more different they are, the more likely they are to have problems. And as far as XMP goes, your motherboard will select the profile of the slower kit to avoid crashing. You can manually tune this, however.
