Upgrading ram.
From what I can find, the "S" just denotes So-Dimm. It would be different if it was F or R or U (F and R are registered memory, not compatible, U I'm not sure if it denotes desktop size, not sure. ). SO the S in this case is just denoting the form factor.
Where you have to be careful, is if they have letters in other places. You can get low power and ultra low power dimms, but these are usually denoted as PC3L or PC3U or sometimes DDR3L or DDR3U. These run at different voltages, and may not be compatible with the chipset. So when in doubt, stick to the same type.
From what I can find, you might be compatible with DDR3L, but I wouldn't swear to it. It seems you can put in up to 16GB, in two 8GB sticks, and I think they must be done in pairs. It won't work with just one stick, from what I read.
Its always tricky getting compatible ram. It would be nice if Apple were like motherboard manufacturers, and gave compatibility lists, but hey, Apple! Good Luck.
