So I'm running a singular ethernet cable from my router in the living room to my room. Im running a minecraft server on a linux machine (Linux Mint 19.2) which needs to be connected directly to the main router so the port forwarding will work. I have my main windows computer in the same place. I dont want to run another cable from the router, but I want ethernet connection for my main pc. I've tried using a second switch to connect the two computers, but the server won't work with it. Anyways I was wondering how to "pass through" the ethernet connection form the server to the window computer.

Most network switches are Layer 2 only, even ones that are partial Layer 3 don't have their services enabled by default. There isn't a reason a switch won't work here.

What is this switch you're using? Model number?

As above any unmanaged switch should be fine.

If you're trying to use a smart or managed switch it may have a differing configuration on that interface or simiar.
