Do I need an amp?

I dont have an onboard soundcard of anything so I was thinking about getting the beyer custom one pros with an aftermarket boom mic like the vmoda. Would I need an amp to power these at their fullest potential? Also if i didnt get an amp would there be any distortion with the mic because I don't have a soundcard or anything.

Yes, please clarify. Most motherboards have onboard audio of at least some fashion.

Yes, please clarify. Most motherboards have onboard audio of at least some fashion.

More so, most onboard of any flavor will drive COP's just fine.
