R620 Black screen after POST

Go to solution Solved by Insprill,

Yes i got it. I jumped the 2 pins on the mobo to reset the bios

Hello everyone! So I recently got a dell R620 and i threw in a GT730 i had lying around, i turned off the integrated video controller so it only uses the 730 and now when i turn it on, its all fine, but then once its booting it gets a little bit in then the screen just goes black. The monitor is still getting an input its just black. Didn't look into it alot but any help would be appreciated:)

edit: i can get into the raid controller and the network management thing

So the server does actually boot fine? e.g you can still remote into the server or connect to IPMI?

How come you've put the GT730 into it anyway? Pretty sure the R6xx series being 1U servers arent really designed to handle discrete graphics but have you tried switching it back to integrated and doing a firmware (Lifecycle Controller) update?

Yeah I get that it goes black after the Raid utility, but my question is really does the server actually boot your OS?

I'm assuming you already had an OS installed, and you somehow remotely connect to the server? Wether that be via SSH, RDP, VNC, etc...

Or if you have the iDRAC connected, can you connect via IPMI? e.g connect to the management IP address thorugh a browser, what does iDRAC say is the status of the machine? Is there anything showing in the iDRAC Remote Console?

If you have iDRAC connected then as I said above you could try doing a Lifecycle Controller update. Your BIOS version is out of date, and I assume your overall firmware.
