Actually there's a proof of 5.1 GHz attempt running full userbenchmark at 1.57V... however I can't cool it sufficiently.

I don't really see the point in a 100mv bump for a whole 100mhz, imho something like 4.8-4.9 at a much lower voltage would be preferable since you already have a good chip. Unless you're going full custom loop, I don't see much of a reason to go beyond a large air cooler such as the d15s and others of that caliber.

What's the general rule of thumb on a 3770K's voltage? I've always tried to keep it under 1.3 V. I top out at 4.5 GHz @ 1.270 V. I find my system is pretty balanced with a GTX 780, at 1920x1080,60Hz. Of course, it depends on the games people are playing, but there's nothing I've played that it really struggles with. That's even including a sub-optimal dual rank triple-dimm configuration at 1600 MHz.

Intel's 22nm is pretty damn robust and can handle at least 1.45v without any major degradation, of course this is dependent on chip variance, but generally ivy bridge and haswell can be pushed much further than stock clocks with a good enough cooler and enough juice pushed through them.
