When do you guys think this will become reality?

Where you would just put on a helmet or something, lay down in your bed and play video games all day long.

All with your mind.

I'm seriously asking the question if that is what you mean.

You think it'll be that soon?

The Occulus Rift developer kits have been out for a while.  It exists, but they want the kits to be cheaper and they have some pretty high hardware requirements.

I don't mean a display in front of your eye's.

I mean that you are actually in the game itself and can control it with your mind.

OK so you are talking SAO type stuff.  I would say 10-20 years, hard to tell with stuff like this, it isn't just a sequential improvement breakthroughs need to happen along with those type of improvements.  It will take time and money, but I bet it will be there while we are alive.

Loved that anime, really want to try it out for myself (Just hope when you die in-game you don't die IRL).

I personally am not a fan of the idea of controlling it with your mind.

I'd rather do something like an Omni, an Occulus Rift, and some sort of controller (Like for a shooter, a gun controller)

There's quite a few movies out there about Virtual Reality gaming, and of course they over do the side effects, and what people would do with it,

but I really don't think completely becoming someone else (in mind), would be a good thing for most people.

They would get carried away with it.

You mean that they would choose they virtual world over the real world because they thin it's better?

If you hated your day to day life, wouldn't you choose the VR world were you're who you want to be instead?

Yeah, there would have to be some protection from that, because I could see someone trying to kill others over the connection like in SAO.
