I turned my PC on this morning and Windows starts updating. gets to 30%, then is says "Restarting" and it loops and doesn't stop. Any ideas?

This happened to me, I couldn't be bothered to do any troubleshooting, So factory restore it was for me... Then I updated all of my drivers from manufacturers website and it was all good from there :)

p.s. don't forget to back up your files if you do this :)

PROFILEYEAH

What do people even put in these things?

Start your computer, when Windows 8 loads, shut down your computer while it loads.

Do this 3 times, and the 4th time, Windows will give display to you a screen saying that your system has an issue and offer you choices like going to Safe Mode, and such. Somewhere in the menu, you should be offered an option to do a System restore. That is to bring your system back in time (without affecting your files), to a state that used to work. Do so, and you should be up and running.
