Hello

My first custom pc builded about month ago and it worked fine. But now my psu won't turn on and make click sound. So I tried paper clip test and it turn on the fan for few seconds and off ( I guess this is how psu with active fan work). Many trials of plug in without some components and psu didn't turn on. But when I tried turn on without 8 pin cpu cable the computer turn on. So I thought the mobo is broken and inspect it, but no burn mark. A WILD idea I had that remove cpu and plug in 8 pin cpu cable AND IT TURN ON. Now I want to sent it to warranty, but I don't want sent in a cpu that might be work fine. The cpu doesn't have any physical damage and the mobo socket don't have any bent pin.

The specs are:

Cpu: Intel core i5 9400f

Motherboard: z390 gigabyte ud (yes I know, why I buy a oc motherboard with non oc cpu, because I didn't know that I can flash bios with a USB)

Gpu: gtx 1660 ti

Psu: corsair rm 750x

Ram: goodram irdm DDR4 16gb 2400mhz (2 module)

Dead cpu is very rare, most of the time your motherboard is bad.

it could be bad power delivery as a whole either the psu is faulty or the mb not the cpu  so i'd focus more on the mb's vrms and capacitors or the psu as a whole

Look like I might fried the mobo vrms because I let bios run in auto profile. I didn't know the auto bios run higher voltage and I use tower heatsink. I guess I have to rma the mobo, but I threw the anti static bag so that is impossible to send it.

You can buy them if you need one. Try ebay maybe or some other retailers, maybe local pc store they may even have some spare ones from old parts

@Whiro tag or quote will do the trick
