Okay guys so this is my first tutorial and I wanted to see how it goes. With my rig I couldn't play Battlefield 4 on low at 1080p so I looked for some ways on how to improve that.

If you have Windows 7 go to step 1

Step 1:  Download this http://www.coderbag.com/Uploads/Unpark-CPU-App.zip This is a Core Unlocker and with multi core systems it will unlock cores not being used. I have AMD and it worked for me so not sure what you will get with Intel. Download this file and open it with WinRar or any other Zip opening program. Open up the Main folder in the Rar and choose Unparkcpu.exe and when it opens select check status. Wait for it to be done and if in the bar it appears that you have parked cpus click unpark all.

Step 2 NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL: Open Nvidia Control Panel. Copy these settings in the Picture. This is performance over quality so it may make your game look different. In the picture I forgot to set it to Use My preference emphasizing select that and drag it as low as possible.

This is all I have for now it made BF4 low 1920x1080 playable for me. So it should help your performance.

If you have any other suggestions post them in the comments and I will add them if they work.

Core unparker does work for Intel chips, though using it increases idle temps for your CPU.

Have you used it? Do you notice any difference?

I have used it and general usage seems snappier but I couldn't tell any difference in gaming

I see. Is there a way to undo it? (If by any chance my temperature get too high, or I don't find any improvement)

The unparker app can repark the cores, just run it again and click repark. Unparking cores in a laptop will also reduce battery life.

I've found and tried this tips from a BF4 reddit post and unparking the CPU had no impact on the game that's visibly noticeable. I can't speak much for FPS increase but it may be minimal. A huge factor for me was network lag and/or packet loss that affected my game much more than FPS drops (I play w/ a gtx 760 on Ultra with a bit of lag here and there).

What gpu do you have?

NVIDIA GTX 560 TI is the GPU that I have. Sorry for not being on. I have seen performance gains in Battlefield 4. On lowest settings I got a bout 29 when moving but now I get a solid 60 fps with some drops to 47 which surprisingly doesn't happen on explosions. I also didn't have the newest updates nor did I update it anytime between my playings of Battlefield 4. I also tried Ghosts and it was too slow. I then did this and tried again. It worked 60 fps medium settings but I didn't enjoy it so it decreased performance. I think the latest NVIDIA drivers have increased performance for every gpu supported since in Windows Experience Index. Not a good benchmarking however. Had gone up from a 7.4 to a 7.8 again not a good benchmarking but that must mean something right?
