Upgrading my GPU

Im Weeb

Current Build:

CPU: Ryzen 3800X

RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200 Mhz (4x8GB)

GPU: GTX 1070 MSI (Same card as previous build)

MOBO: ROG STRIX X570-E

I would like to know if i should go for a 5700 XT or a 2070 SUPER or even wait for NVIDIA to launch their new generation.

Would love to get some opinions on this.

The 1080 Ti is close to a 2070 super and can probably be had for around $300. I'd look into that.

Again, avoid AMD cards for now. Not worth the hassle and stress you will have to go through. Trust me.

Ryzen 5 2600 3.9Ghz all cores 1.175V | MSI X470 Gaming Pro | 16GB ADATA Gammix D10 @ 3000C16 | Sapphire RX 5700 XT Pulse | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 250GB & 2x Samsung 860 EVO 500GB | Super Flower Leadex II 650W | Phanteks P350X

Asus VG245HE 24" 1080p 75hz | Logitech X-540 5.1 | Logitech G710+ MX Brown | Logitech G502 Hero | Logitech G440

I was thinking of the AMD GPU because a friend of mine got it and had no issues, but i do know about how the launch of the 5700 XT (or was it the 5600 XT?) was an absolute car crash.

He got lucky, I guess. My card decides that it's ok to downclock to 500mhz during an intense scene in metro exodus.

Honestly, in that build I'd see what the next gen looks like.

What resolution?  Monitor?

Then anything 5700XT and up will do currently.

That 1070 is no slouch tho, so I'd still advocate waiting.

Just also for context that 1070 won't be going away, i will use the part of my previous build and make a VR build for my living room

i'd wait for the 3000 series from nvidia an buy gpu+monitor then. no point in upgrading now if you have a 1080p screen.

Go very high instead of ultra. You won't notice the difference

Don't use Ultra (You've been brainwashed to do so for unjustified visuals and justified FPS drops)
Ultra is for Bragging or Justifying the New GPU,.. and wasting money on something you don't need to, not really Practical spendingchasing Ultra in Every game because every game is different and if you want that :ULTRA: spec, you'll have that one game that makes you go up a GPU when you didn't NEED to.

I'd also steer clear of AMD GPUs until they sort their COMMON issues out. (Many people are fine, many are NOT)
Take other forums into account and not just LTT, AMD issues are daily postings...(moreso than usual for both companies)

It wasn't this bad before the 55/56/5700 series (still not best, but not this bad)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
