Hello all, i was trying to fix an earphone that i got from my friend. I have changed the jack and tested it. The sound was like coming from deep. Also when i checked for continuity left and right signals were connected with ground. Then i opened the cover of the earpiece to test for continuity independent from my wiring. I checked for the continuity of signal(red) and ground(copper) and got a "beep" from the multimeter. Shouldn't these two wires unconnected? Both left and right pieces were the same way. They are both connected with grounds, thus connected with eachother also.

Here is a picture of the earpiece. Is the earphone gone for good? Or are there some products that work that way?

Thanks in advance!

You SHOULD get continuity between the Left and Ground, as well as between Right and Ground. Otherwise you don't have a circuit through your transducer and you wont get audio.

Any continuity between Left and Right is undesirable and known as crosstalk.
