So when i play cod modern warfare (2019) the main menu in multiplayer stutters like crazy sometimes, even the RGB on my keyboard and in PC freezes up for a few seconds xd
It only happens in cod and it's only for a few seconds, in game it runs fine with 140+fps and no stuttering. so it seems to be something with the game but i have no idea what it could be, i've tried reinstalling ingame shaders, updating video card drivers, running without RGB software (if that for some reason can cause the issue, the one i'm using is Aurasync and iCUE)  and running the game in "normal" priority mode and nothing works

PC Specs:

CPU:

Intel® Core™ i7-9700K

I do not have the game but did you try to actually monitor your hardware in order to see what the usage is during the lags and where possible bottlenecks are?

You can do that with MSI Afterburner OSD or AIDA64 on your extra LCD (G19 Keyboard LCD). Also is the game on you HDD?

What comes to my mind is that something is bottlenecking for some short amount of time causing the game to block for a moment. Since it runs fine otherwise as you say i think it is more a COD issue than your hardware / config.

I once too had that issue with a game's main menu, dug into its files and turned out the main menu was a code atrocity using jQuery, WebGL and webviews. Sometimes it is not your hardware but just lazy/dumb programming choices.

I am NOT a native english speaker and use translate a lot, please do not take it literally and bear with me.

Yeah running on HDD, been thinking about reinstalling it but 150gb download is kinda painful xd
It's just weird since my PC can easily run it and is over recommended specs, CPU and GPU usage is always somewhere between 80-95% so that's fine too, there's no reason it should lag so it's probably just the game like you said, but it's annoying since it doesn't happen for any of my friends that have similar PC's

Is it not on BNet? You can just copy the game afaik (I do so with WoW & Hearhstone as i play them on/off). But yes, 150Gb game, you can think about how long your HDD would need to load some of it up, right? :) I would suggest putting it on an SSD.

Edit: But still that is just an assumption, you can only ever be sure if you monitor your system (i'd really recommend, just for the sake of being able to do so whenever you want to).

Hello Sorry I Necro'd this because it kept appearing on my google search when I was searching for anyone else with this problem.

I was having this same problem and I fixed it like this CTRL+ALT+DEL > Open Task Manager > Details >ModernWarfare.exe > (right click) Set Priority > Real Time

This Fixed the stutters/pauses for me! Bear in mind you will have to do this every time you start the game.

I hope this helps other people searching google for a fix for this problem.

Didn't work for me, made the stuttering worse.

Can't for the love of god figure out a fix.

GPU usage drops to like 40 instead of 100 when this stuttering happens.

my Config: i7-9700K with RTX 2060, game is installed on NVMe SSD.

You need the operating system and games on the SSD if you want it to actually work. Having the game on an HDD might be the issue. Try that first and see if it works.

Assuming you checked off all the usual suspects, like bios and O.S updates, just try reinstalling the game. That worked quite often for me. Try setting each games exe file to "high performance" under the display settings as well. There also might be something running in the background meddling in the affairs of your video games.
