Century link is offering us "fiber" 40/20 with under 20ms ping. It looks like it will be cheaper but I am concerned about the company and since they are not laying fiber to my house it will be using the old copper to get here. We currently have 50/10 with under 20ms ping from Comcast. What do you guys think I should do? Is Century link a reputable company? Thanks for your help in advance.

Century Link used to be called Embarq. They changed their name for some reason or another.

They are the only ones that offer internet for reasonable (at least, in general) prices where I live (Heart of Texas).

They are ok. They have no data caps and don't seem to care if I torrent or not.

If it is over copper, and you already have 50/10 with 20ms ping over it, then it can obviously handle those speeds so it being over old copper shouldn't matter at all.

I would trust them personally. Embarq was iffy and not very good at service, but since they've changed to Century Link, they've been pretty reliable.
