So today I set up my KVM switch to swap between my MacBook and my PC. It works fine with my PC, but if you look online you'll see that daisy-chaining is not supported through DisplayPort Mini, which is how two of my 3 monitors are connected. I called Apple support and they were unable to assist, and I was wondering if anyone had experience with this at all. The online forums all say that daisy-chaining is supported with Thunderbolt 3, but since it's going through a KVM, I'm not sure if doing a DisplayPort to Thunderbolt will work.

Does anyone have any insight to this?

Mini DisplayPort is just a connector, the capabilities of DisplayPort do not depend on the connector type.

It is an operating system limitation, MacOS does not support DisplayPort MST which is used for daisy-chaining and DP hubs. These devices will not function on the Mac operating system unfortunately, except to mirror displays.

Daisy-chaining is supported when the output DP is to Thunderbolt 3, it's been shown before. I'm just wondering if I change the output through the KVM to Thunderbolt 3 if it'll work.

Thunderbolt daisy-chaining uses its own protocol, not DisplayPort MST, so TB daisy-chaining does work on MacOS.

I'm not sure if what you're proposing will work though, so I can't really comment on that.

What if I use an actively converting cable?

I don't know that there any devices that will convert DisplayPort multi-stream signal into a Thunderbolt 3 daisy-chained setup.
