Okay so someone hacked my amazon account yesterday around 2:34 am. They purchased amazon prime with my account. I checked my email this morning and it was locked because they found a suspicious purchase which was the amazon prime. I check my information about which device was used but it says it was through my computer and I saw that their IP address was on there and it was an unknown device through my computer or something . I looked it up and It says it was someone in Staten Island New York. I filed a complaint through IC3 but other than that what can I do about my computer... it says there’s no security threats but google says otherwise.. what do I do about my rig..

Most likely what happened is you re-used the same credentials somewhere else and that website/service was compromised. I'd start with enabling 2FA (2 factor authentication),  sticking with a passwords/credentials regiment that doesn't re-use the same passwords (maybe a password manager), and stop by https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see where your information may have been compromised.

Start with on a device other than your PC ;

  • change your accounts passwords,
  • if your CC was on your profile, call your bank,
  • add 2FA to all the accounts and services that have the feature,
  • change your home IP (often, static IPs are a paid service, unplugging your modem for 30+ minutes will have your ISP assign a new IP to your device, but not always),
  • get a free anti-virus and anti-malware software, run them in safe mode while disconnected from the internet (check if you need to download a virus DB so that the software works offline).

Was the email actually from Amazon and a legit email or did the link take you to an amazon looking site but the URL was not amazon.com?

@Lurick I bought an extension cable yesterday on the amazon app cause I used a credit card to buy it rather than my debit card. So then I get on my bank app to make sure it charged the credit instead of the debit I saw that I was charged 13.01 for amazon prime but that was late at night 2:34 am. I was confused so I immediately spoke to amazon reps and they told me there was an unknown device they locked my account and said I needed to wait for an email because they had to investigate they said it would take 24 hours so today when I woke up I tried to check my email but it wouldn’t let me sign in because google said there was a suspicion about a purchase made yesterday. I finally got access to the account and I saw that one of the devices was unknown but the IP address was there and it was some rando from New York but it said it was my PC but with a different up address. My PC is a desktop in my room.

Ok, just making sure because there have been a lot of "Amazon purchase cancelled" and other similar emails that look like Amazon but are fake. :)
