Is my GPU creating artifacts?

Yes they likely will but the card's flawed so replace it with another might not solve the issue....

By the way I noticed one more thing when I finally paid attention to the photo:

The card is on the wrong PCI-e connector, you're thermally choking it not giving any breathing room with the fans facing the bottom this close, not only that this second 16x is actually a PCI-e 3.0 x4 header and you're bottlenecking your card due to the lower bandwidth which could also be causing the issues you're experimenting.

The card should be on the PCI-e header above.

So i built my first PC about a month ago and today i was playing modern warfare and started noticing these weird blotches of green and purple colour appearing randomly for short duration then disappearing. I was trying to search forever if this was some sort of weird game bug but couldn't find anything, then I came across something I have never heard about before and that's of course GPU artifacts. To me it seems to be what is happening here, but I would like to hear from someone with more experience with this kind of stuff. It's odd because this doesn't happen in any other games when I'm playing, even ones that require pretty decent hardware (GTA V, R6S, The Hunter: Call of the Wild). My graphics settings in COD MW are set to maximum my display is a 1920x1080.

My PC specs are:

-MSI B450 gaming plus

-AMD Ryzen 5 3600x (4.4ghz OC)

-ASUS TUF Radeon RX5700XT OC edition

-2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz

-Corsair TX650M 80+ gold

Heat doesn't seem to be an issue but I have attached a picture of the setup in case someone has some suggestions on how to improve it. (4 intake fans set up as a push/pull on 280mm radiator at the front of the case 2 of them blowing directly on the side of the GPU, 2 exhaust fans one on the top of the case and one on the rear all in the NZXT H510 case.)

Please someone help asap! I bought a replacement warranty with the GPU from Canada Computers so would this be something i could replace the card over?

since it only happens in a single game, it's more likely that the problem lies with COD and not your hardware.

are your drivers up to date?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

That's why I though its possibly a game bug as well but then of course I thought worst case scenario after lol. I think the are, I redownloaded the drivers VGA package from the Asus website about 2 days ago it included the AMD software and GPUtweakII, how can I double check they are up top date? Thanks for the quick response man!

I'd suggest using DDU to remove the current video driver and install the latest from AMD's website directly, rather than Asus', as that way you will surely get the latest version available.

Also, does this happen in every match? A few times I happened to get weird artifacting in MW after playing a few games, but restarting the game fixes the issue.

Oof... Very much likely the video card.

The TUF has a flawed design that causes the GDDR6 to overheat during intense usage which causes the artifacts.

While Micron states the max operating temperature of the GDDR6 is 95Cº testing shows the TUF's can peak at 105Cº

Oh, I just noticed this. As stated above, this 5700XT model has a massive flaw when it comes to cooling, particularly the memory, leading to instability, artifacts and potentially even failure. So regardless of whether this artifacting happens only in MW or other games too, I'd suggest changing it for a different model if possible.

I saw this video on Youtube when I was doing some researching when I first finished my build. I was having some overheating issues with the card esp in GTA V, Junction temp was hitting close 110C for for about a second then dropping to 108-106ish during longer sessions at very high graphics, memory temp was also peaking at about the same around 108C both would stay steady at 2-4C lower than the peaks, but that is of course still very HOT. At this point is when i added the 2 additional purple 140mm fans which are blowing directly on the side of the card and fixed the very modest stock fan curve that was only utilizing about 50 % of the fan speed 95C temp. Now with the same settings in GTA V I haven't seen it hit higher than the mid 90s. If this is GPU artifacts would Canada Computers replace the card as I bought the direct replacement warranty?

Yeah...you should probably ditch COD for BF5...seriously that's not the kind of artifacting I see when I push my card too far.

Yeah I know BF5 is a great game I played tons of it on console, only bought COD because my bro wanted to play with me cross platform :) is the PC version of BF5 that much better than XB1?

I'm told it was better on PC, but now too many cheaters.  I haven't played on PC..only PS4.

Yeah that's true, I will go and try to replace or exchange the card if possible from CC, not sure how an exchange would work but ill talk to them and try to see if I can do that. Wish me luck I'll let you guys know what happens.

Thanks for the tip I didn't know that the second port had a lower bandwidth, I thought about moving the card up previously to let it breath more but I thought the vent holes at the bottom of the case there would bring enough air up from the mostly cool and mostly open PSU compartment. The only reason I didn't move it up was because I didn't want the card pressed up against the cooler hoses transferring heat, and I think it just looks a bit cleaner. but if the first port allows for more bandwidth I will move it up.

Changed headers and now all my issues are gone. Thanks so much Princess Luna would have never known the 2 slots differed at all. Thanks to everyone else for the input you guys helped a bunch!

I wouldn't have damaged anything by using the card on the wrong slot would I?

Aw that's great! I'm so glad we managed to get your issue resolved!

No damages at all, you were just limiting the card true potential ^^
