Hi everyone. I'm looking for a monitor, that's below $500, however I can go a bit above that. I've found that this price range isn't enough to have all the features of an "incredible" display, however I still want to find one.
Looking for:

  • HDR - whether or not is it good quality HDR
  • Color: At least 91% adobe coverage
  • Resolution: 4k or 1440p
  • Response time: Preferred 5ms or below, higher will be accepted.
  • Panel Type: IPS or VA (Only if it is comparable to IPS quality)
  • Brightness: Above 300cd/m^2
  • Contrast 3000:1 or better

SOLUTION MAYBE:

https://www.amazon.com/LG-32UL950-W-Ultrafine-Thunderbolt-Connectivity/dp/B07NS7JKJH/ref=as_li_ss_tl?keywords=32ul950&qid=1553539268&s=gateway&sr=8-1&linkCode=sl1&tag=pcce-20&linkId=4bec7c9d994ae37908ea59de8f56bb22&language=en_US&th=1

This one has best color accuracy and HDR and is 4k.

If someone else has a better solution please reply.

I'm looking for something exactly like this but IPS.

Things u should no.

You wont get a IPS with 3000:1 + contrast ratio. the best u can hope for is 1100:1. Its an inherent flaw of IPS technology.

91%+ adobe coverage will be ....difficult, impossible for VA

Price: your not getting what u want for $500, thats a given

What u want ....doesnt really exist, ur going to have to decide, do u want VA with high contrast , or IPS with high Adobe RGB gamut ?

So closest to what u want is the Acer Predator X27, a £1700 monitor. (~$2000)

A more reasonable option is the

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s3220dgf

Should be roughly in range of ur budget.

It however has ~81% Adobe RGB coverage. But it has around 3000:1 contrast, has HDR , is 1440p, and has a REAL 'average'  80% pixel response of 5.4ms.

Note all 'real' pixel response time figures are much higher numbers than what specs state. 1ms spec monitors regularly sit around 3ms average in 'real' testing.

As im sure ur aware. Adobe RGB coverage is mostly important for professional work. For HDR the DCI-P3 color space is more important (anything above 75% is great), and for regular gaming the sRGB color space is what is mostly used (97%+ is great).

Depends on what u want and what u mean by 'better' ?. You said u would like 3000+ contrast. Your not going to get that in an IPS, ull very much notice the difference between a VA 3000 contrast vs IPS 1300 contrast ...u likely wont notice the difference between 81% Adobe RGB and 85%.

For reference here is the review of the 32UL950 u linked.

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/32ul950-w

What is the purpose of this display ? are you doing high end professional color work that very much needs very high adobeRGB coverage ?
