Hello all,

I’ve got a Mofi 4500 cellular router that’s reporting a suspiciously high amount of upload usage. The Mofi software is basically OpenWRT with a few customizations. It has VnStat for bandwidth monitoring, which is reporting an average of 1-2GBs of upload on the cellular module per day. It also has a feature to monitor the bandwidth used by each device. The strange part is that none of my devices, alone or combined, are using anywhere near the reported 1-2GBs of upload.

Either the monitoring features on the Mofi are inaccurate, or the Mofi itself is the culprit? The fact that it can’t be traced to any one device is concerning. Our wireless is secured, we live in a remote area. Cloud backups are light. I created a ticket with MofiNetworks last week and have gotten no response.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I would start by reducing amount of devices connected to that network. My bet would be computers, start by using something like glasswire to monitor the apps.

What specific vnstat info do you get from monitoring that interface?  You should be able to see specific sessions from internal devices.
