Neither has glaring problems. No strong recommendation.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

After considering your ram clearance that I think you've answered, according to the specs, you should have about 5mm of space left over with the NH-D15S (160mm) and an H500 (165mm total max) case.

According to various posts on reddit (and here), the Dark Rock Pro 4 (163mm) does actually fit in an H500 (165mm total max) with a bit tighter of a fit at 2mm left to spare. Not sure about ram without searching more. They included pics of it installed in their case: Imgur Photos of Dark Rock Pro 4 in H500 case

One thing that might or might not matter: am4 is rectangular and as a result some am4 attachment brackets force a cooler into up/down configuration.  May not matter even if it happens because both coolers have fans that can handle up/down.  Might possibly matter for plans for your case though.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

There’s always what’s on sale.

Ah I see. I'm actually considering both of these exact coolers for a 3900X system I started buying parts for. For me, whichever I can get for a better price and availability in my area. The NH-D15 chromax black consistently comes in at being more expensive in my area so...

Either will be a good choice.

Typo. You're right. Took me a moment to figure out what you were saying. Cheers!

There are some internet tools for that.  I’m not super familiar with them only knowing that they exist.

The NH-D15 fits fine. Here's an example: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/XzBbt6
