SLI with 7740X

I just noticed 7740X doesn't let me use SLI 2080 Ti.

 

Is it because X299 chipset doesn't know how to handle 16 lane CPU and doesn't know how to split 8x and 8x?

 

Also only 2 out of 4 memory sticks work for some reason.

Nvidia actually advertised explicitly using HEDT Intel CPUs using SLI to show that scaling with PCIe worked to an extent (though it turned out to be single digits).

Half of the slots are disabled when you use a 7640X or 7740X since they don't have quad channel.

So it's normal that my SLI is not working / half my RAM also, and one NVMe is not showing out of 2, right?

What motherboard do you have? Is it the X299 dark in your sig?

Check the board manual a tonne of stuff is disabled with kaby lake x. I think you need to out two gpus in slot 1 and 2, i.e  0 slot spacing apart. Slots 3 and 4 are disabled.

 

And when SLI is used PM1 is disabled altogether and so only PM2 can be used for m.2

 

And yes, only slot 3 and 4 for the dimm slots are enablrd for kaby lake x.

Ah, my ones are in the slot 1 and 4. I see, makes sense.
