Here's the link for my build.  Its come a long way from my old build as I've made steady upgrades to it for a couple months now.  I mainly use it for shooters, Destiny 2, Ghost Recon, Battlefield, etc.  I just upgraded cpu, mobo, ram, cpu cooler, gpu, and case fans.  What else could I upgrade to make my gaming experience better?

You should've went with Zen 2 instead of Zen+ because Zen 2 is much better for high refresh rate gaming.

Other than that, its a great system.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Zotac RTX 5090 SOLID OC/ x2 WD_BLACK NS770 2TBs/ Corsair HX1000i/ NZXT H5 Flow

You could and this is absolutely ONLY A COULD! As every part of your system looks good and up to date is mainly getting a better cpu or gpu. Currently they are more than able to handle the task but in a few years you might want to look at new cpu when ryzen 4000/5000 is cheap. Same for gpu, if you happen to get a very good deal or upgrade you can go for it, but your config is fine.

Yeah, I was debating that when I bought it.  I got the 2700x for $160 around black friday and I couldn't find a 3600 for less than 200.  Sure it's less single core performance, but I get 2 extra cores and 4 more threads for less money. Plus I can upgrade to a ryzen 9 later if I really want to. :D

So you're telling him to upgrade down the road..?

Not to mention he should not upgrade his GPU. The games he's playing at 1080p absolutely do not need more than a 5700XT

You might add a small sata SSD (MX500 500gb model) to install your OS...as in making it your boot drive.  Free up the NVMe for only installing games as in SteamLibrary.  This will free up performance down the road...especially starting 2021...games will use NVMe as "Virtual RAM"...at least that's how game developers are treating it for the new consoles.  Good idea to point your page file at the NVMe too...so the OS can use the NVMe as "Virtual RAM"...half joking.
