Next logical upgrade

Hello,

I'm currently running a Ryzen 5 3600X paired with an EVGA GTX 1070 FTW..
Awesome GPU, however I'm upgrading my monitor to a 1440p - 144Hz display and, well, the 1070 is having trouble keeping up..

So the question stands, which GPU should I get for the best 1440p - 144Hz gaming experience.

P.S- I also do some Premiere Pro & After Effects work in my spare time - so that also comes into account..

Any suggestions are welcome, I don't really mind switching to AMD for my GPU if it can perform as well as I expect it to..

That is obvious, but if I were to look at the CHEAPEST GPU that can do 1440p - 144Hz without hiccups.

And then also be a decent helper for Premiere Pro and After Effects.. [I'm not even sure After Effects utilizes GPU]..

well, there are some GPUs coming out real soon and RTX 2060 price was cut in USA.

I see that you are from Toronto (just like me) so I'm sure we won't get that sweet price cut for a while but just cross your finger and RTX 2060 price drops soon along with RTX 2060 super.

I think 2060 Super is the most logical upgrade for you right now.

I can't get into detail like motherboards because I don't really look into GPU as much but

RTX 2060 super is basically GTX1080 performance with better driver support so I suggested it.

From the reviews I've read about these, the 2060 Super is more targeted at 1080p - 144Hz, it can't quite get those high FPS at 1440p..

So I was considering the 2070 Super at least or some equivalent to it, (5700 XT?) I don't know much about AMD cards..

You should aim at 2070 super at least imo.

Depends on what you are using your pc for.

As for gaming, I have a 2070 super and it struggles to hit 144fps on some titles. Like Rainbow Six Siege (most benchmarks online have render resolution at half, I slide it to full), I only get 120fps. Also, Apex Legends wouldnt even go near 100fps with 1440p.

Im personally trying to upgrade to 2080 super or 2080ti
