I got these received these 2 cards yesterday from the same website and they were listed as identical but they are slightly different.

Why is this?

One looks like it has an after market cooler while the other one might be the reference one.

They're both MSI 280x Gaming 3gs

Could be different revisions of the same product? (but I would imagine since the 280x is a  2year old card they would have a set design by now?) 

 

Need more information?  Model numbers?

I see a big heat pipe on top of the second one, but not the first one in the pictures... As long as they work, I wouldn't worry about it. Could also be two different revisions MSI made.

Why is this?

One has a reference pcb and the other has a custom. The one with a 6 pin and 8 pin is the reference pcb and the one with two 8 pins is the custom. Send the reference back in and have them send you another as the custom one is a much better design.

Does it say what brand/type they are in gpu-z?

also, you may want to update your sig.

Both the same apart from BIOS version and Memory type.

Alright. Your cards will be fine but I'd recommend sending back the one that has only an 8 and 6 pin. If it's too much hassle, it's nothing to worry about.
