I am currently in the process of planning and designing a new pc for a mate of mine. He mostly plays Minecraft, a little bit of Fortnite and might be looking into getting into my graphic intensive games. Knowing this I have opted to go with the Ryzen 5 3400G as it will run well enough for what he wants currently and he can easily add a graphics card when he wants to move onto more graphic intensive games. He wont be looking for more than 60fps as his monitor is 60hz as well as doesn't want to go over a budget of around $800-900. Can any improvements be added to this parts list? any compatibility errors I don't know about? (motherboard and cpu are compatible btw)

I'm open to any suggestions :)

Looks good. Personally, I'd probably go for a B450 Tomahawk MAX (or Gaming Plus, A Pro, etc), as the case allows for an ATX motherboard and this will provide better upgradability in the future. That being said, the B450M PRO-VDH that you've chosen will be enough for the moment, if you don't want to spend extra. Also maybe look for an M.2 NVMe drive, as nowadays they go for pretty much the same prices as SATA SSDs, offer faster speeds and save you from having to run extra cables from the SSD to the motherboard/PSU.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

I don’t the 3400g.  I’d rather put him in a 1600 with a used rx470 or something if possible.  Barely more money but a lot more longevity.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
