I'm currently using the following:

-Asus B350f Rog motherboard

-Ryzen 7 1700x

-Asus 2070 super

-16gb Corsair vengeance lpx 3000mhz

-EVGA 650w PSU

-Kingston A400 240gb SSD

This started as a budget build and I've slowly upgraded over time to something respectable.

I'm looking for suggestions for a new board, and any other upgrades that would benefit performance, mostly for gaming.

Also my monitor sucks at the moment. It's a Spectre 24inch curved 75mhz El cheapo. Looking for suggestions on what to get on that as well.

Thanks for any help, it's appreciated!

Hi Mate,

Your graphics card and PSU (if it's >80+ gold) look good.

If it were me, I'd upgrade the motherboard to an x570 chipset (for overclocking, etc), then the CPU, then a Gen 4 M.2 SSD (because I don't like waiting for things to load), then the memory, in that order.

If you weren't going for a Ryzen 9, you could probably buy the CPU before the motherboard.

I've got my eye on the New AORUS FI27Q-P, but then my machine is dual work/play use so I can justify the extra cost, I guess it depends on your budget!

Cheers,

Get a new display first. Upgrading from your 1700 on a 1080p/75 won't really help too much with a 2070s. The display is definitely holding you back the most.

1080p/144 if you want your gpus to last longer. Will benefit your 2070s and your future CPU whenever you get it. Can still run at 1080p/60 when your gpu starts to suck.

1440p/144 if you upgrade gpus often AND will upgrade your cpu soon. Will be not pleasant to run at 1080p when your gpu starts to suck.

1440p/75 same as above, but if you don't want to upgrade cpu or GPU soon and can't afford a 1440p/144 or unwilling to go 1080p.
