Local network noob problem

I’m trying to setup my local network and have clicked on no password on the main Pc but when I got to use the files on my laptop I get asked for a username and password. What simple and dump thing am I missing ?

What does hotting “ok” while leaving the fields blank do?

So the PC that hosts the files has a passwordless account? 

Then sharing is disabled, you HAVE to have a password for a user to be allowed to access shares.

If you don't want to add a password to the account you log in with you can create another user in the management interface that has a password, that you give permissions to the share to, and which you use for accessing the shares from other computers.

So to log into windows it has a password - well Pin. and on the Network sharing settings I have turned off password protected sharing.
